Adult Christian Education at Bethel

The Church's marching orders, what we call "The Great Commission" of Jesus, are found in the 28th chapter of the Gospel According to Matthew:

Then Jesus came to [his disciples] and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt. 28:18-20)

While this mission will be focused and expressed in unique ways by different churches, we are all given the same essential task: Go and make disciples--apprentices of Jesus Christ.

An important part of disciple-making is "teaching [those who embrace the gospel] to obey all that [Jesus has] commanded [us]."  Christ, our Lord, wants us to know what He has commanded in such a way and to such a degree that it becomes part of who we are.  Every Christian--young, old, man, woman, blue collar, white collar, poor, rich, and everyone in between--is called by God to apply him/herself diligently to  knowing  and obeying what God has said in His Word... the Bible... Scripture.

As a church, one of our primary God-given responsibilities is to help believers in Jesus Christ grow in their knowledge of and faithfulness to the Word of God.  While our Sunday morning sermons serve a vital educational role, they are not intended to provide you with everything you need to know in order to be a faithful apprentice of Jesus.  We do our best to provide quality opportunities for you to learn in a deeper, more comprehensive way who this Jesus is and what it means to be His apprentice.  We hope you will take advantage of the opportunities that will be most helpful to you in the current stage of your journey with Christ.

We currently offer a variety of Sunday morning classes in addition to weekday Bible/Christian book studies, small groups, and a new marriage ministry called Committed.  We are constantly seeking to serve you better, so stay tuned for new opportunities!

"[Christ] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:28, ESV).
